Raphael Röchter is a master student of philosophy at the University of Cologne, working as a research assistant at the Husserl Archives. He achieved his bachelor’s degree in philosophy and media-culture studies (Medienkulturwissenschaften) at University of Cologne and holds a bachelor’s degree in Jazz piano from the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. His master project focusses on the late metaphysics and anthropology of Max Scheler, his theory of voluntative realism and the role of emotions in the phenomenological reduction. The project aims at a systematic reconstruction of Scheler’s thought, drawing out the continuity between Scheler’s earlier and later works as well as the relationship to subsequent thinkers such as Heidegger and Sartre. His broader research interests encompass phenomenology, ecophenomenology, contemporary philosophy of mind, philosophy of emotion, epistemology, animal and environmental ethics as well as philosophy of religion.
