Alessandro Poltronieri

Having earned his MA in Philosophical Sciences at the University of Milan, Alessandro Poltronieri is now pursuing a PhD in Theoretical Philosophy at the University of Bari under the supervision of Prof. Giusi Strummiello (UniBa) and Prof. Carmine Di Martino (UniMi). He is currently a visiting researcher at the Husserl-Archiv in Cologne.

His doctoral research focuses on the notion of intertwining (Verflechtung/Ineinander) in Edmund Husserl’s phenomenology. Specifically, his project aims to reconstruct the genealogy and development of this concept as an operative concept (operativer Begriff in the sense of Eugen Fink) across Husserl’s corpus. The investigation begins with Husserl’s early work on the theory of mathematical continua and the mereological framework of non-independent parts (unselbständige Teile) as established in the Logical Investigations. Beyond the historical-phenomenological reconstruction, the research applies this device to contemporary debates in analytic philosophy: it engages with the metaethical discourse on the relationship between reason and emotion, and contributes to the philosophy of mind by re-evaluating the notion of supervenience.

His broader research interests include phenomenology (with a focus on Husserl and Merleau-Ponty), history of contemporary philosophy, moral philosophy, and philosophy of mind. In December 2024, he published the article “Edonismo, sentimentalismo morale e riflessione emotiva: Husserl e la storia del dibattito in etica” in Bollettino Filosofico (Vol. XXXIX).
